U.S. Syria Conflict: from a teen's perspective

By: Zach Campbell

With the war conflict arising in Syria, I find it ironic that everything that the citizens of this nation laid blame to President George W. Bush for involving the invasion of Iraq, President Obama is doing the same exact thing. President Bush invaded Iraq without the approval of Congress, and it appears that Obama may be on the verge of repeating the past when it comes to Syria. It's been stated on Fox News, "approximately 1,500 people have been attacked with chemical weapons by the Assad Regime. Although I strongly disagree with the Assad Administration, I do not support US military involvement in Syria. Even though Assad has committed war crimes through his humanitarian
misconduct, it does not grant President Obama the constitutional authority to engage in military action. The U.S. is currently engaged in active wartime within the Afghanistan Borders, while also common knowledge lets us know that there are ground troops still within the border of Iraq and South Korea.

I'm so sick of sitting around, hearing horror stories of people losing their lives and limbs on a daily basis in our already known conflicts, while Obama sits back in his big White house in Washington, pushing papers. I'm sick and tired of the propaganda being spewed out of the gut of D.C. I'm sick and tired of our nations young men being shipped off to fight in wars, spilling their blood for reasons that have no plausible justification. If someone doesn't step up and step out soon, I fear that the U.S. will be a talking point in a foreign history class, somewhere abroad, 50 years from now. If something is not done to bring our troops home, get our elected officials in Washington to stop jumping the gun, and infuriating the global community, I can say with grim certainty that the security of this nation is going to remain and develop an increased security threat from the outside.
